Kadal (Tamil) - Movie Review

In short, many Maniratnam fans will not like this movie, but that doesn't mean the movie is very bad. In fact, the first 30 minutes of the movie is too good, but unfortunately the rest of the movie doesn't satisfy our expectations from the brand 'Maniratnam'.

Plot : A past rivalry between Arjun and Arvindswamy during their youth days make them both part in their own ways. Years later, Arjun plans and executes a drama to take revenge over Arvindaswamy, who then works as a Church Father in a coastal village. Meanwhile, Gautham, an orphan young man brought up by Arvindaswamy falls in love with Arjun's daughter. What happens to them all forms the climax of the movie. Certainly, not the best screenplay from a Maniratnam's movie.

The real stars of the movie are - AR Rahman and the cameraman Rajiv Menon. The songs are already a huge hit among the youths. Background music is equally good. Lyrics by Vairamuthu also needs to be appreciated. Rajiv Menon has given his best for the movie. Few of the shots in the movie were awesome.

In the cast, Arvindaswamy and Arjun proves their experience. This is a wonderful comeback for Arvindaswamy. Gautham, son of Karthik, who is introduced in this movie looks good in dance and fights. Hope he proves his acting skills in coming movies. Heroine Tulasi, daughter of Actress Radha, misses to impress the audience.

Maniratnam and his team have missed the gold this time. Lets hope he bounces back bigger, the next time.
